Consider these steps to unearth, organize, weave through, and incorporate a family member’s research project. LaDonna Garner, M.A. is a Historic Consultant — Professional Genealogist & Historic Preservationist— focused on historical preservation and genealogical research in and outside Southeast Missouri. She often lectures on both subjects at conferences, society events, and colleges. She also offers in-person/online courses and one-on-one consultations. Garner is an active member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and assists numerous organizations in various volunteer and leadership capacities. Garner’s current projects regard reenacting and rediscovering forgotten communities and cemetery preservation for a greater understanding of people, places, and cultural heritage. LaDonna’s recent programs are numerous including state records in government documents with the Institute of Genealogical & Historical Research (IGHR), ancestral homes with Polk County History Center (FL), and upcoming series with Scenic Regional Library in Missouri.
