Is There a Doctor in the House? Researching Ancestors Who Were Physicians
Is There a Doctor in the House? Researching Ancestors Who Were Physicians
presented by Jane Neff Rollins, MSPH
Is There a Doctor in the House? Was one of your ancestors a physician? If so, your relatives played important roles in American society throughout American history. Discussion will include a brief history of required training, a summary of U.S. laws governing practice, and types of documents that provide information about ancestors in the medical professions. Resources include: documents available on Google Books and at University archives; registries of licenses; court documents; city directories; newspaper advertisements and articles; and more personal items: diaries, oral histories, and ephemera.
