Sandwiching in History Tour: Foster-Robinson House
March 5 – Virtual Tour – Premiere on Facebook the first Friday of each month at noon and are archived on AHPP YouTube Channel.
This large residence on Broadway Street in the historic residential core of Little Rock, Arkansas, was designed by architect Frank W. Gibb for the wealthy lumber merchant Henry Howard Foster in 1904. Also known as the Joseph Taylor Robinson House, the house features remarkable woodwork, including unusual cuts of fine-grained woods on the interior that were hand selected by Mr. Foster and his workers at his local lumber yards. In 1930, the property became the home of Arkansas Senator Joseph Taylor Robinson, who would live in the house until his death in 1937. During this period, Robinson was a leading figure in the national Democratic Party and even entertained President Franklin D. Roosevelt here in 1936.
