Often referred to as the Westminster Abbey of Arkansas, Mount Holly Cemetery is the final resting place of many well-known Arkansans. This includes eleven Arkansas governors, thirteen state Supreme Court Justices, four US Senators, and twenty-one Little Rock Mayors. The cemetery was created in 1843, on land covering four square blocks in downtown Little Rock and includes some earlier grave markers that were moved to the site from older area cemeteries. This historic cemetery includes excellent examples of a wide variety of funerary art and iconography and is a peaceful oasis in the center of the busy city.
