SUMMARY:123 W Maple: Lessons in Doing a House History
DESCRIPTION:123 W Maple: Lessons in Doing a House History \npresented by Heather Robb \nHave you wondered about the history of the house an ancestor lived in?  Or have you ever had thoughts of who lived in your house before you? Come learn steps that will help you to be able to make a start on your own house history project. We will look at a case study involving 123 West Maple Avenue in an Illinois town. Using examples from sources found for this property and those that resided there\, help illustrate just what can be found when conducting a house history. \nHeather Robb is a graduate student in the genealogy studies program at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow\, Scotland. She is currently working on a topic for her master’s thesis. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and has done graduate studies in Public History where she developed an interest in museum studies as well as architectural history and historic building survey. She is a graduate of the Boston University Genealogy Certificate Program and holds a Professional Learning Certificate (PLCGS) in American records from the International Institute for Genealogical Studies. \nShe has worked in the archive and artifacts department at the Airborne Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville\, North Carolina and has served as genealogical researcher for Purple Hearts Reunited for the last five years. She was a military spouse for the duration of her husband’s military career and found fulfilment in organizing events and activities with several organizations for military spouses at various duty stations. \nHeather’s favorite genealogy records are military records with land records a close second. She loves being involved in genealogy education and has served as a coordinator for the ProGen study program as well as a facilitator with Boston University’s genealogy certificate program. She enjoys continuing her American genealogy education by attending national and state conferences as well as institutes like GRIP\, IGHR\, SLIG and TIGR. \n123 Maple chat \nMembers\, please login to see the video:Zoom meeting video:\n\n
