This silo located near Vilonia\, Arkansas\, was completed and opened for use in 1962\, and housed an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile as part of the US national nuclear weapon strategy during the Cold War. These sites were decommissioned during the 1980s\, and today a few across the country have been reimagined and reopened\, including the Titan Ranch Silo site.

As early as the 1820s\, locals visited the mountain for recreation and hiking. Today\, the park focuses on preserving the natural landscape around the mountain while also providing recreational and educational opportunities for visitors. The park also includes remnants of several historic homesites that were purchased when the park was created in the mid-1970s.

DESCRIPTION:Sandwiching in History Tour: Foster-Robinson House\nMarch 5 – Virtual Tour – Premiere on Facebook the first Friday of each month at noon and are archived on AHPP YouTube Channel.\nThis large residence on Broadway Street in the historic residential core of Little Rock\, Arkansas\, was designed by architect Frank W. Gibb for the wealthy lumber merchant Henry Howard Foster in 1904. Also known as the Joseph Taylor Robinson House\, the house features remarkable woodwork\, including unusual cuts of fine-grained woods on the interior that were hand selected by Mr. Foster and his workers at his local lumber yards. In 1930\, the property became the home of Arkansas Senator Joseph Taylor Robinson\, who would live in the house until his death in 1937. During this period\, Robinson was a leading figure in the national Democratic Party and even entertained President Franklin D. Roosevelt here in 1936.

Mitchell of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and Dr. Story Matkin-Rawn and Dr. Kenneth Barnes of the University of Central Arkansas\nTopics include: “African Americans\, Arkansas\, and the Other Great Migration 1865-1920”; “Any Place but Here: The 1860 Expulsion of Free Blacks from Arkansas” and “Arkansas’s African Migration Movement in the late 1800s.”\nThis event is part of an ongoing series of symposiums and other events sponsored by the Black History Commission of Arkansas. The mission of the Commission is to collect materials pertaining to African American history for the Arkansas State Archives\, to encourage research of the state’s African American history\, and to cooperate with the Arkansas Department of Education to develop materials that support the teaching of African American history in our public schools. \nThe symposium will be available for sign-in beginning at 09:30 AM Central Time (US and Canada)\, with presentations beginning at 09:45. The park contains one of Arkansas’s most significant per-European archaeological sites\, consisting of the state’s tallest and most complex mound sites. Archaeological investigations have linked this site to the Plum Bayou Culture\, who used the site for ceremonial and religious purposes for several centuries. Today\, the park interprets the important and interesting history of this site in partnership with the Arkansas Archeological Survey.
