She and her husband served as lay librarians at the Westlake\, Ohio\, Family History Center (now FamilySearch Center) for over 20 years.  \n\n\n\nShe has written for numerous genealogical publications\, including a regular column in the NGS NewsMagazine and the APG Quarterly; she was a frequent contributor to Digital Genealogist Magazine\, as well as penning a regular column that ran for two years in the Cleveland Sun. In addition\, Diana also wrote “Finding Your Danish Ancestors: A Primer for Research & History” (2015)\, “Chapter 4: Scandinavia” in The Family Tree Guidebook to Europe (2013)\, and transcriptions of Green County and Shelby County\, Iowa\, Cemetery Records (2021). DESCRIPTION:Rebecca Whitman Koford\, CG\, CGL\n\n\n\nRebecca Whitman Koford focuses her research in Maryland\, Upstate New York\, Virginia\, the District of Columbia\, colonial records\, military records from the Revolution through the Civil War\, federal records at the National Archives (D.C.)\, and land records of all types. She has published articles in the NGS Magazine\, APG Magazine\, SAR Magazine\, and the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal and is co-author of the NGS Research in the States series book on Maryland. She is a graduate and former mentor of the ProGen Study Group and served as its Administrator from 2015 to 2020. She speaks at national conferences and regularly teaches at institutes\, most recently the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG) and the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research (IGHR). She served as Executive Director of the Board for Certification of Genealogists® from 2018 to 2024. In 2021\, she was named Director of the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed) in Washington\, D.C. Her philosophy is to “Work Smarter\, Not Harder.” She has a YouTube channel where she provides general “how-to” videos on genealogy technology.
