SUMMARY:Sandwiching in History Tour: Foster-Robinson House
DESCRIPTION:Sandwiching in History Tour: Foster-Robinson House\nMarch 5 – Virtual Tour – Premiere on Facebook the first Friday of each month at noon and are archived on AHPP YouTube Channel.\nThis large residence on Broadway Street in the historic residential core of Little Rock\, Arkansas\, was designed by architect Frank W. Gibb for the wealthy lumber merchant Henry Howard Foster in 1904. Also known as the Joseph Taylor Robinson House\, the house features remarkable woodwork\, including unusual cuts of fine-grained woods on the interior that were hand selected by Mr. Foster and his workers at his local lumber yards. In 1930\, the property became the home of Arkansas Senator Joseph Taylor Robinson\, who would live in the house until his death in 1937. During this period\, Robinson was a leading figure in the national Democratic Party and even entertained President Franklin D. Roosevelt here in 1936.

SUMMARY:Zoom Meeting - Missing Relative Case Study Using DNA
DESCRIPTION:Missing Relative Case Study Using DNA\nby Andria Yakoubian\, Arkansas Genealogy Society\nLink for tonight’s meeting: https://bit.ly/30nfNyn\nWhere’d They Go? Ever had a relative who vanished. Or maybe you have a relative who only appears when they are an adult. We will take a look at how to find a “missing” relative using the DNA trail that they left behind. Andria Yakoubian will walk through the paper trail and the DNA trail to find a missing relative. \nAndria Yakoubian has been doing family research for 20 years. Since doing a DNA test she has been enlightened by the power and information your DNA carries. She will teach you tricks and techniques on how to “walk thru your DNA matches” plus how to figure out where matches fit into your tree….even if they have private trees and little to no information about themselves. \nMeeting Files:\nZoom meeting chat text\nPresentation slides in PDF \nMembers\, please login to see the video:Zoom meeting video:\n0:25:00 Presentation\n1:00:12 Questions and Answers\n1:35:30 End

SUMMARY:Zoom Meeting - Local Search Angels Solve DNA Cases
DESCRIPTION:Local Search Angels Solve DNA Cases\nby Tammy White and Angela Bernard\, Local Search Angels \nIn this one-hour course\, they will provide an overview of how they have solved &5+ cases using genetic genealogy. They\nwill discuss basic DNA platforms\, resources and their process from beginning to end of select cases. They will share stories of reunification. Sharing the ups and downs of finding a long-lost family member. Then they will discuss resources and platforms used for searching for someone. Finally\, they will demonstrate\, using DNA\, how to start a search from the beginning. They provide ongoing resources to help with searches and take questions. \nAngela Bernard and Tammy White are sisters who began researching family ancestry in the late 90’s. Family members passed along a large paper\, photo and family bible trail that originated long before DNA testing for ancestry gained it’s popularity. Inheriting this treasure trove of information\, fueled our desire to dive further. As technology advanced\, it led to DNA testing on all platforms. Through this process\, we have found many mistakes along the paper trail but must give credit where credit is due to our family members who tromped around in overgrown cemeteries and dug out historical records in courthouses etc. Due to a major unexpected line appearing in our own DNA matches\, we developed a passion for problem solving and triangulating DNA matches in order to determine relationships. Tammy is a Heritage Seeker. \nMeeting Files:\nZoom meeting chat text \nMembers\, please login to see the video:Zoom meeting video:\n0:28:34 Meeting\n0:34:55 Presentation\n1:41:40 Questions and Answers\n2:18:44 End
