Odd situation. 20:27:51 From Jan N to Everyone: Don't discount searching Google Books because you think your WW1 family member wasn't "important enough" to appear in a book . I made that mistake for several years, then just googled the surnames of my WW1 soldiers. Nothing showed up for most, then BINGO! My grandfather's 1st cousin (who died in the Argonne) appears in a WW1 Service Record book. It gives many of the details of his family, pre-service life, and his service record in the first couple of paragraphs, then quotes two letters written by a Lieutenant and a Chaplain, both of whom served with him and knew him well. They both described what a fine man he was, told about the events of the day, and how he died. I can't read this without absolutely bawling. It's so moving. What a treasure of a find! 20:27:57 From tracy to Everyone: Reacted to "Happy Birthday to Ci..." with ❤️ 20:28:01 From Mary Evans- Little Rock to Everyone: I had another situation in Hawaii (American Battle MOnuments) 20:28:17 From Karen Harrison to Everyone: Will email you with my name 20:28:58 From Linda: The Sleepless Genealogist to Everyone: also use togetherweserved.org user input from family on their military ancestors 20:29:01 From Diana Crisman Smith - FL to Everyone: Mine was not actually buried in France - his body was never recovered, so the Battle Monuments Commission has a memorial for him in France. 20:29:51 From Mary Hoyer to Everyone: How were civilians who served alongside the military recorded such as Hollywood movie producers creating training films. 20:29:58 From Darlene C to Everyone: I googled a VA https://www.sbmonuments.com/footstone-grave-markers#:~:text=Footstone,by%201%20ft. footstone 20:30:08 From Lisa Oberg to Everyone: Thank you! 20:30:48 From Caroline Shultz to Everyone: Thank you all for your service!
