Had a tour through the Mayflower in the Harbor, and even got to go down in the hold where the public doesn't usually go. The part of Plymouth Rock that is left, is just the tip that sticks up out of the sand. Because of restoration and erosion, the sand had to be removed a few years ago, so our tour guide, the former Executive Director of Plimoth Patuxet Museum, Richard Pickering, saw how huge the rock really is... it's basically the foundation under all the sand in that part of the harbor. So the shallop they used for scouting could have been pulled up onto the sand where the rock is located like it was at Province Town and their other scouting trips. janeharmon:โค๏ธ Mary Evans- Little Rock:๐Ÿ” Caroline Shultz:๐Ÿ˜ฏ 2026-02-02 18:57:45 From janeharmon to Everyone: Replying to "are they cutting down the trees to see the tree ri...": No. they have a very fine auger that they turn into the wood by hand. When it is pulled out, they have a small tube holding a long thin record of the treeโ€™s history. It can be saved indefinitely.
